Hello All,
I apologize for not having posted sooner. My schedule has been hectic but I have managed to make progress on the rudder. Not as much as I would like mind you, but progress nonetheless. I will have photos in the next post.
The 'R5' rib presented a challenge in that it was difficult to ensure that the rudder control horn would be straight when attached to the rib. I have discovered that the tubular construction, although strong and lightweight, leaves no flat surfaces to work with. Drill bits tend to wander. However, by using the gusset that Ray supplied, I was able to use it to create right angles that allowed me to place the control horn correctly.
At this point I am performing the permanent install of the ribs to include the gussets. The rudder will be complete after this task is done. All except the fabric covering of course...
Give me a call if you have any questions. Just a reminder that I am at Weber Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 0900-1200. You are welcome to come check things out. Be sure to sign in at the school office first.
